GOOSEBERRIES Gooseberries will do better on rich soils and if fed each year. Spray with a fungicide at leaf break and just after the berries have set, to help to prevent mildew. Picket or similar insecticide if sprayed in April and May will control caterpillars. Careless | The best all round garden variety. Large, smooth berries. | Mid season | Invicta | Vigorous heavy cropping green gooseberry. Prune to upright bud to prevent it getting too wide.
