AFTER the facial!

Mirtha:
After his visit last month, I can see why!
Rita:
Now Mirtha what is your skin type? Normal?
Mirtha:
Well I am definitely not normal! But I guess my skin could be classified
as such.
Rita:
Hmmm…let’s try an orange peel on you then.
Mirtha:
I would rather eat the orange! But this feels refreshing!
Rita:
Now that you’ve enjoyed that we’ll wash it off now dear.
Mirtha:
Oh my! What are you doing now? It feels gushy!
Rita:
I’m applying about a half of a mashed banana to your face. It will erase
the dark circles under your eyes.
Mirtha:
Are you saying I need this treatment?
Rita:
Oh no dear! Not you! Now doesn’t your face feel much better?
Mirtha:
Well strangely it does. But Rita, what do you do for your beauty regimen?
Rita:
I have very dry skin. The winters where I live can be quite harsh you
know. I will mash the flesh from an avocado with a tablespoon of sour
cream and leave it on for 5 minutes. I have to do this when Red is not
home, as he likes to lick my face when I have this on! Actually it’s the
Vitamin E and other compounds that replenish the moisture in your skin.
Mirtha:
Wow! I didn’t know that fruit could be so beneficial for your skin!

Rita:
Red will kill me for telling you this though. He has very oily skin. I
figure it must be from tinkering with all those contraptions of his. I
told him I wanted to use steam to deep cleanse his skin. So guess what the
big lug did?
Mirtha:
I’m afraid to ask!
Rita:
He emptied the insides out of an old washing machine and duct taped about
a half dozen steam irons on it and all pointing toward the center. Red
gave it a test and it looked as if it actually might work until one of the
irons misfired and scalded his cheek quite badly. I never heard Red use so
many, ahem, "bad" words in all the days of our marriage.
Mirtha:
So I guess his steaming days are over then? I heard you two had a pretty
steamy relationship!
Rita:
Well we do! But now Red gets his steaming done the safe way. He sits
calmly (or what passes for calmly with him) and puts a towel over his head
and makes a tent over a steaming basin of hot water. The secret is to have
the slices from one lemon floating in it. After he is done, he splashes
some cold water over his face to tighten his pores. After one of these
treatments – he looks like a new man!
Mirtha:
Hmmm...I have some men that I would like to try that one on! But anyway
here’s a list of fruits that make you healthy from the inside out!
-
For
dull hair and weak nails: Eat apples! The silicon and pectin boost the
keratin in your nails and hair.
-
For
bruises: Eat a potassium enriched banana.
-
For
fine lines: Try plyphenol rich berries.
-
For
dry, flaky skin: Care for a cantaloupe anyone? Loaded with Vitamin A
and Lycopene
-
To
look younger: Eat lots of citrus fruits.
-
To
deep clean skin: Peel a papaya and enjoy the fruits skin purifying
properties.
-
For
blemishes: The bromelain in pineapple banishes blemishes.
-
For
looking pale: A plum’s Vitamin A will boost your circulation.

Rita:
Oh my, Mirtha – you sure have done your homework on this!
Mirtha:
Well I can be a bit fruity you know!
Rita:
Yes we know dear. So in essence, if you’re
fruity on the inside, you’ll look great on the outside!
Mirtha:
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thanks for joining me!
Rita:
My pleasure ( I think).
Extra hints
from Rita:
If you
want to look years younger, go buy some apricots and put one and 1
tablespoon baking soda in a blender for a few seconds. Rub this over your
clean, dry face. Your skin will tingle and your fine lines will vanish.
Leave on for a minute and rise off.
Another
way to banish blemishes is to blend two strawberries with 1 tablespoon
cornstarch and apply to clean, dry skin. It’s the strawberry seeds that
slough away your skin’s rough patches. Plus they are high in salicylic
acid, an ingredient in acne cream!
